Fancy for an outdoor style of bar and grill dining environment? Or in search for a cozy atmosphere to spend some casual time with your loved ones while enjoying BBQ steaks or simply wood fire pizza?

Well, fret no more. Golden Sands Resort is bringing a new fun and family-style restaurant to cater for all occasions. The new Beach House Bar and Grill (formerly Sigi’s by the Sea) will open its door to guest by January 2010.

There will be wide selection of barbeque or grill steaks and seafood, wood fire pizza, varieties of sandwiches, pastas, healthy salads and even local Asian dishes to suite everyone’s taste. One of the restaurant signature features would be the outdoor upper deck where the space is ideal for small group gatherings, private wedding celebrations or simply special occasions for two.

To bring the best of the best to all of the hotel guest, the Golden Sands Resort appointed John Brock, a very experience chef along with excellent skills in western culinary as Executive Sous Chef to lead the new restaurant. Much to our delights, PenangTuaPui were invited to a food tasting session organized by the hotel.

The menu for us started with two selections of entrees – Kataffi Wrapped Prawns or Confit Salmon Tarte

Fresh Rolled Bread

The Kataffi Wrapped Prawns with aioli and gremoulta came with 3 large prawns wrapped in thinly shredded pastry (kataffi) served on bed of sauce of olive oil with garlic (aioli) and chopped herbs condiments with lemon zest (gremoulta).

The fresh lemony sauce blends so well with prawn meat that is so fresh while the crispy kataffi simply create a wonderful texture to the whole package.

Confit Salmon Tarte is a pastry like pie of preserved salmon then topped with cucumber and chive crème fraiche. Huat Koay feel that the salmon are a little too salty, however if you blend everything together or if you are a salmon lover, this dish is simply marvelous.

    The steak looks kinda dry, does it taste dry? I’d like to try the mango dessert, looks yummy!
