Ah Sai Koay Teow Th’ng | Hawker Food
Huat Koay, who is known of his picky taste bud and fan of Koay Teow Th’ng, there is nothing can stop this guy from trying new Koay Teow Th’ng stall whenever he heard about them. Seng Thor Koay Teow Th’ng, Chulia Street Beef Koay Teow Th’ng, Clarke St KTT are his favourites, as a results of his dedication to get best KTT at Penang.

Ah Sai KTT, recommended by Lucia as the best koay teow th’ng on Penang Island. Without any hesitate, we make our trip over to the coffee shop. Ah Sai Koay Teow Th’ng is a stall in Sin Hoe Peng Coffee Shop, along King Street, a few shops away down the road from The Sire.

It took us 3 times before we able to get the stall, we can’t find it the first time, and it was closed the 2nd time. Finally we able to get it under heavy rain on the 3rd time. To us, there is nothing can stop us to discover delicious food, our tummy always make the call :P.

Ah Sai, middle age guy who manage the stall together with his wife, Ah Kuan. They had been running the business for 30 years. Yes, you get me right… 30 years. They had relocated a couples of time before move in this kopitiam years back.

Upon arriving the stalls, you would find out they did sell pork porridge, Mee Suah Soup, and Bee Hoon Soup besides their famous Koay Teow Th’ng. But today my target is their famous KTT.

The ingredients are arranged properly at the stall to allow customer to opt their favourites “toppings”. Huat Koay just pick some “spare parts”, fish balls, and mince meat.

It did not take them long to serve me the famous A Sai Koay Teow Th’ng. A simple bowl of KTT, its look doesn’t match the title of “The Best Koay Teow Th’ng” to me, but it is still early to conclude before taking the first sip.

Upon the first sip, the soup is rich of flavor. It took them hours to prepare the soup perhaps. But the “over-topped up” vege had taken over the taste.
I should have told them not to add too much vege for me.

The fish ball is just nice but the “spare part” is bit over-cooked to my preference. I would rather medium to well done type. They didn’t choose “Ipoh” type of koay teow but the local type instead, but it didn’t break in pieces that I thought. It cost me RM3.00 per bowl, not a bad deal.

“Loh Han Guo” here is something you must try. RM1.70 for a glass of drink with longan, “tadpoles eggs” sago beads.. cincau, and sagu. Nice and unique drink for me. I love it. It looks like a brown color version of ais tingkap ![]()

This KTT is very nice. My family loves it. lol
KTT is good but hate the coffee shop owner, customer got charge even without ordering a drink. Sucks big time. Boycott this place for quite sometimes.
hmm did this guy use to sell out of a coffee shop on beach street across from the sri weld car park lot…i hope it is as have been looking for this particular KTT seller for ages.
been very busy. haven’t come in here for a long time. today i did and surprise to see the post on my fav KTT. thanks penang tuapui for posting this. when i take the KTT, i don’t take the ’spare parts’ so i don’lt know about it being over-cooked or whatever. i add egg though which comes to RM3.50.
penangites, it is not only this coffee shop but a few others too (like the one in new lane) charge you if you do not order any drinks. i feel it is kind of fair. they sure want business and if you go in and never order anything, so they have to charge you for the table.
howdy, yes you are right. as sai stall used to be located on beach street across the sri weld car park lot… just next to the then naina mohd pharmacy shop. first time i patronised his stall, it was there, then he moved to bishop street and from bishop street move to the present king street.
