Relaxing lunch at Federal Place
THIS IS A MULTI PAGE POST : 1 2
If the name says it all, then you will have all the good things under the same roof. Federal Place along Jalan Dato Keramat offers dining, drinks and exercise within the same building so you get the best combination available.

Federal Place is converted from the previously famous Federal Cinema which house the Federal Restaurant and Honolulu Cafe. This is also a place where East meets West. Why? Find out below…

The moment we entered the Federal Place, we were greeted with a large lounge area with the bar counter on the right.

The style and setting are contemporary to matchi the bistro/ lounge concept.

There are also individual drinking tables for guests coming in groups just opposite the bar counter.

Once you walked past the lounge/ drinking area, you would see the spacious dining area behind it. We were quite surprised actually to find that this place served drinks Western style but the dining is towards oriental. Well, that is East meets West for us….

The menus are quite comprehensive as well. There is a smaller booklet which everything inside costs RM8. This is like for you to taste before you order a bigger one or for those who like varieties, you can opt to order a bit of everything

As usual, the appetizer before the main course

The four types vegetables (RM10.00) looks rather small in portion but taste wise is good

The vegetables cooked has some “kam heong’ style and taste

The mutton ribs (RM12.00) is one of the recommended dishes here. It comes with a sweet sauce like honey sauce with herbs

The mutton ribs had been grilled until there is minimal fat, tasted quite delicious and crunchy

The curry fish (RM20.00) used garoupa fish which has taste towards sweetness rather than spiciness

We suspected either milk or palm sugar was added to make to the sweetness taste

The curry fish has less of curry based fragrance but more on herbs based fragrance.

Our initial impression of tofu (RM8.00) was it looked like ubi goreng. The moment we took the first bite, we could feel the softness of the tofu despite the crunchy skin outside.

It has a nice aroma which was quite appetizing

A little promotion for the drinks…
Federal Place offers a relaxing lunch place at the town area for those who would like to avoid the busy town. We find the mixture of East and West within the same premise quite surprising but it is a great concept to have them both. The environment is quite comfortable and we had a little fun with the small “labyrinth” inside the toilet. It was 100% mirror everywhere that we were wondering where the exit was.
Also, we like the small booklet menu where it was good for first timers to try out the different variety of dishes without the fear of wasting them. With the flat price of RM8 each (the portion is scaled accordingly as well), customers can pick quite a plenty dishes to try it out..
