Hawker Food | Medan Sentosa Gado-Gado
Our food hunt around Bukit Mertajam does not end with the Yam Rice or Crab Meat Koay Teow or even the Curry Mee at Yong Xu Xia. Being Penangites, we are just so blessed with so much foods and the varieties available that we are very much pampered when it comes to food!

This time we are going to another food court around Bukit Mertajam to try out their gado-gado or commonly known as pasembur to most of us.

Medan Selera Taman Sentosa is the food court we are referring here. The food court is slightly past Yong Xu Xia if you are coming from BM Town.

As you walk past the main entrance of the food court, take the right turn and walk towards the middle before you can see this stall on your left. Next to it is the tong sui stall which operated by the same owner as well

The price list for gado-gado and jawa mee clearly indicated at the side of the stall.

Of course, when the stall has been reviewed by newspaper or dailies, you will the cutting proudly displayed visibly.

This is the gado-gado or pasembur. Looks just like jawa mee except this one is much drier.

Besides the normal ingredients, the gado-gado also includes small squids and lots of chili paste.

The gado-gado with chili paste tasted quite different from the others we had before.

The bowl of tong sui here is much smaller than Wai Sek Kai at Chai Leng Park or Mat Tou Yau.

The ingredients given are just enough. This stall operates from 6pm till 11pm and closes on Tuesday and sometimes during weekends. Also, they do cater for gatherings and parties as well.

PTP, you guys are my hero!!! This is one of my favorite place. Next time, try the economic char bee hoon there, they sell red bean tong sui too. The char bee hoon stall is at your left hand side of the front entrance. They close in Thursday and Sunday.
Also, there is a KOPITIAM (Sentosa KOPITIAM??) just beside this food court, the yam rice there is good. The owner is the sibling of BM yam rice that you guys have had before. ENJOY!!!

Hi PTP, If I’m not mistaken, this place is the first food court in BM area, started in 1977 or 1978, before that it was an open air food court. There are few stalls that have been there from the beginning. Char bee hoon is one of them. The other old stalls are Won Ton mee (Ah Keat), You char kuih, Kopi Stall ( Ah Teik), plus gado gado. I put their name on so that you guys won’t go to the wrong stall. LOL!!! These are some kind of “kor char bee”, they don’t have fancy add in stuff, but the reasonable price and original taste that will remind your childhood. These stall owners won’t have to worry about their business, they have many regular customers that have been patronizing there since they were little, and now bring there second generation. LOL!! I’m one of them! I miss this place so much!
Alamak~ I am damn hungry. So much choices for me in the hawker food. A good way to enjoy life
