Dessert | Maxim’s Gelato Ice Cream
The moment we mentioned about ice cream, most of us will likely to think of Haagen-Dazs, Baskin Robbins, Swensens or even the latest in Penang, New Zealand Natural. However, there was another type of ice-cream, that seldom get the attention as the rest, probably because this type of was normally not available on shopping malls.
Yes, we are talking about Italian ice-cream, Gelato which is sold at Maxim Cake House at Pulau Tikus, just next to Belissa Row. Maxim is just not a cake house but offers gelato ice-cream as well.
The flavours offered are quite different from the others and unique like Ferrero Roche, Absolute Vodka, After Eight, Tiramisu and many more. Tam Ciak had a problem trying to understand what some of these flavours were because some names were in Italian..
Each scoop range from RM3 to RM4 and we got 3 scoops for RM10. Compared to Haagen-Dazs or Baskin Robbins, this is relatively cheaper. Another option for ice-cream if you intend to try something different.

Motormouth, as far as my knowledge, I think it is not at all related to Maxim in HK.
Anyway, just curious whether it is the Italian Gelato same as the one available in The Gardens. There, one scoop is around RM7/- if I am not mistaken….

we don’t think they have any relations to the one in HK. This is just a cake house compared to the other which is a large F&B chain. Anyway, we’re not able to make comparison either as we had not tried out The Gardens before

yea, 4 scoops one much better cause you get to taste 4 different flavours… we liked the varieties there and wanted to have all… hahaha

I ate there before and the ice creams are bad and expensive. I hate the male taukeh there - service damn bad, don’t think he knows how to do business.
I prefer Lecka Lecka or Gelatisimo. They made the ice cream in front of you if you visit them around 11am daily. All were done in such a way to show you that their ice cream were made fresh daily without any left overs.
I’ve tried their ice cream from their branch in Penang Road and finds it quite okay lor for that price. Still, I’d rather have haagen daaz. But wait, I am experimenting at making my own so maybe soon…you’ll see the recipe at my site!

I’ve tried it out and i love the Kahlua flavoured gelato. Too bad the Mandarin Absolut Vodka wasnt that good. But their sorbet is really good! Very sourish! Recently i had a double mini scoop, with the combination of Tiramisu and Neto Sesame, it wasnt bad at all. In fact the sesame was rather good. i know my Mom liked it.
