Invited Review | Miss Saigon Vietnamese Cuisine, E-gate – Part 2

This is the second part of our posting about the invited review from Miss Saigon. You can read about the first post here.

The menu was grouped in different colour according to the types they belonged to. Basically, there were Summer Rolls (pink), Exotic Side (yellow), Salads (aqua marine), Rice Noodles (grey) and Vietnamese Sandwiches (orange). In fact, the colour coding and categorization of the menu was quite pleasant and easy to refer.

Summer Rolls featured different variety of famous Vietnamese popiah with the skin made of rice flour. The varieties here included thin roll skin made of rice paper or slightly thicker one like Hong Kong chu cheong fun called rice noodles (Hor Fun rolls). The rolls can either be fried upfront before being served or to be enjoyed as it was.

The ingredients used in the Summer Rolls included prawns, squid, chicken, mushroom, eggs, fresh vegetables and also Vietnamese herbs. Each type of the rolls came with the combinations of the ingredients mentioned above.

We liked the Classic Hor Fun rolls (beef or chicken) which the thicker skin that was made of rice noodles wrapped the ingredients tightly inside without any dropping. The other type of roll worth mention was Mini Prawn Paste on Sugarcane which we had to roll it ourselves. It was quite an interesting experience to roll your own Vietnamese popiah.

I would also agree on the steep pricing. The pricing ought to be reconsidered in order to attract more patrons. Anyway, it was a great experience to be invited to such review. I hope that more restaurants would hold more of these type of review for bloggers. After all, they would get direct feedback from us for further improvements. Thanks Miss Saigon.

    Criz Lai,

Indeed it was an experience to have such food review. The food review should give a direct feedback to the owners of the customers’ needs and preference and in return they can profit from the service too

    allenooi,

splitting a long post in few pages make loading faster and without having to wait long… still got to bear in mind, the broadband here despite being called a broadband… the line at times can be crawling….

Price wise, it’s up to customers to decide… If majority agreed the price is steep, perhaps the owner can take this as feedback without incurring loss in the doing the business… we still want win-win situation… owners make money, customers feel happy…..
