Penang Food | Batu Lancang Rojak

On our way back from lunch, we received a call from one of our pregnant colleagues that she was craving to eat rojak from one particular stall. She said it was outside Lam Wah Ee hospital and she specifically requested for that. Opposite this stall was the famous curry mee

This uncle normally parked his mini van outside Lam Wah Ee Hospital. The mini van can be easily seen but you would need to be careful of the traffic that tend to be fast if you were coming from “Gostan bridge

The fruits used were quite fresh comprising of typical ingredients like pineapple, cucumber, mango besides mengkuang, tau kua etc.

The prawn paste used was quite thick and could be quite addictive but it was advisable to take the rojak immediately as the longer you wait, the water from the fruits could actually dilute the prawn paste.

If you prefer, you can also purchase only the prawn paste from the uncle so that you can mix them later for your own fruits. The rojak costs between RM2 to RM5 depending on how big you want the portion to be.

Now I know where to get rojak with tau kua. I have been craving for that too though I’m not preggy now. LOL! I guessed my favorite one would not reappear again as the Ah Pek should be somewhere up there now. If you happen to find one with tau hoo pok, bunga kantan and a squeeze of lime juice, do inform me. I missed that flavor.

This stall never failed to remind me of my rojak “fixes” whenever I went back to my hometown. I grow up with this rojak stall and the owner’s wife never failed to so her sour face whenever she’s at the stall..hehehehe…but nonetheless the rojak is superb and the taukua with rojak is match made in ‘heaven’.

    MaryJane,

Sour face or not… we’ll just pack and go and don’t bother much with the wife’s face… luckily, we’ve never seen the wife when we buy the rojak.. hehhee
