Restaurant | Tao Cuisine - Japanese Buffet
This place definitely does not need any introduction especially for those who like Japanese food very much and can eat a lot. Most people will come to finish restaurant to feast and savor to their hearts as much as possible.
Furthermore, with the buffet style concept for Japanese cuisine is definitely an attraction to any Japanese food lovers, Penang Tua Pui included.
You can order as many things and as much varieties you want as long as they are available in the menu.
Tam Chiak challenged us to order each and every single item on the menu and to date, we have not been successful in finishing them yet. We managed to eat about 70% of the menu items at each session. Maybe we’ll need more Tua Pui to join us in this quest, any takers?
Be warned, to prevent any wastage, the restaurant charge a nominal of RM10 per every 100g of food wastage. There was once where Tam Chiak ate too much till he bloated and had hiccups non stop, what a clever to torture us to laugh with our stomachs full.
Our regular favorites are 3 cup squids, grilled lamb shoulder, miso yaki,motoyaki scallops,tempura shrimp n vege, nemo roll………. I guess this is probably one of the reasons why we haven’t been able to complete everything in the menu… because we keep ordering the ones we like a lot...
Tao currently has two branches in Malaysia and both are in Penang. One is located at the ground floor of E-Gate while the 2nd one is at Auto City, Juru. In terms of space and decorations, the Auto City branch is much larger and more nicely decorated. In fact, this branch has live band performing during weekends.
The buffet dinner is priced RM45++ (about RM51.75) and available daily. There will be two sessions available for buffet dinner; 1st session starts from 5.30pm till 8pm while the 2nd session starts from 8pm till 11pm.

the food looks great under your shoot, been there several time. Nice place, but try to avoid going there at peak season such as Public holiday or Friday.
They will serve u like king when there is few customer.
But a bit expensive and jam loh! I prefer to go to B1 Harry, the Korean restaurant beside Stan Char Bank.
Was there last Friday for lunch. And I realized this outlet some how is less crowd than the one in Auto City. Auto City outlet has nicer landscape. YOu should pay a visit whenever you’re available.
Still remember last time when we bring our Singaporean customer for dinner, all the Salmon were grabbed by him,
and kept on asking for more salmon. Aih…

this is one of the few places where you can have Japanese food, buffet style… so popular that it’s always packed during weekends and sometimes during dinner..especially the Auto City branch..
the Auto City branch is definitely nicer than the E-Gate branch and more spacious too. we do agree the landscape are quite appealing as well..

we haven’t tried the B1 restaurant but like you mentioned it’s Korean restaurant.. the food is not going to be the same as Tao, right? maybe some dishes will be the same but probably not most…

guess it’s definitely worth for them. Imagine RM52 is about SGD23 for unlimited supplies of salmon.. definitely worth it… hahaha

Haiz… everyone had the opportunity to visit Tao and I still haven’t had the opportunity to do so. Why must my other food taster has to work until almost 9pm each day?
I sure must find a day or maybe a week of holiday just to go for another insight food expedition in Penang. Errr… will have to make an appointment to see the dietitian after that.. haha

Its a great restaurant…went there ample times adi but still not bored cuz jap food is my fav…its recommended n a muz try…hehehe…gambateh PenangTuaPui, you all make such a wonderful blog on penang food…alot of them i hav tried but still there is some will soon to b in my tummy…hehehe… =D

the jap food buffet is great only if you want to try different type of jpb food with little $$ you have in wallet.
To get the fresh and great sashimi, this is not the place.
This place is more for those who value money and quantity. You pay a fix price to enjoy as much as your tummy can fit. The good thing is that there are lots of varieties that you can come back a few times to try them all. Even us can’t finish trying all the items in the menu in one session. Still a challenge to go… :Þ

You can can half price in Tao provided your birthday in May…Tao's Anniversary is on May..So, all May b'day girl n b'day boy can get half price…how i know??cuz i m d May girl…wakakaka…i get 50% off since last May till this May…kekeke…but then if u r not, u can get 10% disc on e-gate Tao if u reach there before 6.30pm or 6pm(not so sure on d time) except eve PH & PH & weekends…kekeke…

I try the Autocity Tao cuisine, but i feel the food is not worth that value that i pay for it. The food is very normal or lower than that level.
